David Volz

Veterinarian

David Volz has been a practice owner and veterinarian in Woodland Park for more than two decades. Before settling into the little red cabin, he worked in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the state of Maine. He also worked as a virologist at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, Iowa. He is a native of Missouri and a graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. He is known for his diagnostic ability, surgical skills and his "really great" Dad jokes. He has been known to remember rare diseases that he witnessed only once in veterinary school and apply that information to help sick pets time and time again. He gets excited when he can fix a tarantula with a broken leg, a rooster with a broken beak or remove a tumor from a goldfish (yes, really!). He enjoys challenging cases that make him think outside the box. When you don’t find him here, you’ll find him and his wife Pattye, extreme backpacking, mountain biking or cross-country skiing on some mountaintop somewhere in the world.

Hanna Westermier

Veterinarian

Hanna Westermier graduated in 2024 from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and is very excited to join in the excitement here in the little red cabin. The place where the Ozark "Mountains" meet the great prairies of Missouri is where she calls home, however the true mountains of Colorado and a husband in the military brought her here. She loves getting to know new people and bonding with them through their mutual love of animals, which stems from her country upbringing on a farm with a small red angus herd, a donkey named Junebug, and a flock of barred rock hens. She enjoys working on all animals large and small, from tiny geckos to dog and cats to even horses and cattle. Hanna is known for her ability to connect with even the most timid pets and getting them to open up to her and for her dedication to her patient’s quality of life. When you don’t find Hanna at the clinic, you’ll find her and her husband Sean out and about looking for new restaurants to try and new adventures to embark on or resting at home enjoying their small flock of chickens (that are all named), 5 cats (Azuma who is pictured, Gigi, Ion, Mushu, and Pixel), a ball python named Smaug, grey tree frogs, and many fish tanks.
